Hi everyone,
We hope this email finds you well! As we mentioned in emails back in March, April, and June Abolition Apostles (AA) is currently in a period of transformation and transition.
Here’s an overview of what we are up to and how you can get involved!
We have Long Standing Working Groups and Transition Specific Working Groups to guide how we operate. If you want to learn more and/or get involved, please visit this Google Doc Link and contact us at abolitionapostles@gmail.com.
Our Structures Working Group is leading us through a process of building organizational structures that support our work moving forward. The first step in that is determining a core purpose, so that we can build relevant structures that align. They want to hear from everyone on the inside and outside who’s in our community about their thoughts—here’s how:
Ask your penpals for their thoughts. Here are instructions (in part Spanish and English and in English) on what and how to ask. Please submit their responses by November 1, 2022 using this form.
Share your thoughts as an outside community member, whether or not you have a pen pal. Please share via the same form where you submit your penpals’ ideas. Please submit by November 1, 2022.
Email us if you want to get involved: abolitionapostles@gmail.com!
Are you looking to become a penpal? Attend our next New Penpal Orientation on Wednesday, Sept 21 at 5pm PT / 6pm MT / 7pm CT / 8pm ET! To attend, you first need to fill out this form.

PS Here is some background on our Structures Working Group purpose process
Back in June 2022 the Structures Working decided—in collaboration with other AA members in our Slack community—to develop Purpose Statements to serve as a north star for what we do. Here are two key resources that guided this process Priya Parker’s “disputable purpose” concept in The Art of Gathering & Rooting in Desire.
After gathering purpose statements from inside and outside community members, they will review and synthesize them into either a single or a set of statements to serve as our north star. This review/synthesis process will happen in November 2022. Stay tuned for updates later this year!
